John B. Cary explands to K-6!
On Monday, December 3rd, the Richmond City School Board approved the strategic plan for John B. Cary and J. B. Fisher to expand their schools to include 6th grade for the 2013-2014 School year. Each school was experiencing low enrollment and was charged to come up with a way to increase the number of students attending or face the threat of being closed down. J. B. Cary and J. B. Fisher accepted the charge and began to think outside the box to find a solution to their problems. Studies have shown that middle schools across the country are experiencing similar problems. Studies also show that students who attend a K-6, K-7, or K-8 school have higher test scores and have a better transition to the next level of education.
